The AmplifyChange Not to be missed country diagram explains which indicators we use to determine our Not to be missed countries list.

At the top of the diagram, we have listed out our five priority SRHR thematic areas plus an additional sixth area focused on rights. Underneath these, we have listed the indicators used to calculate the score to determine whether a country is included on our Not to be missed countries list.

The first area is Gender-based violence. The four indicators listed are:

  • Prevalence of FGM among girls (15-19),
  • Percentage of women (20-24) married before 18,
  • Lifetime prevalence of physical and sexual violence, and
  • Social institutions and gender index.

The next area is Safe abortion choices. The three indicators listed are:

  • Unsafe abortion rate (15-44),
  • Index of legal indicators for a safe abortion, and
  • Unsafe abortion mortality ratio.

The next area is Challenging Stigma and discrimination. The three indicators listed are:

  • Index of laws related to same sex activity,
  • LGBT Global Acceptance Index, and
  • Criminalisation of sex workers.

The next area is Better sexual health for young people. The four indicators listed are:

  • Adolescent fertility rate (10-19),
  • Percentage of people (15-24) with comprehensive HIV knowledge,
  • Percenatge of women (15-24) who have had an HIV test and know their result, and
  • HIV prevalence in women (15-24).

The next area is Access to SRHR services. The three indicators listed are:

  • Contraceptive prevalence rate (lowest wealth quintile),
  • Out of pocket spending per title health spending, and
  • Maternal mortality ratio.

The final area is Rights and social development. The three indicators listed are:

  • CIVICUS Index,
  • Human Development Index, and
  • Refugee and internally displaced persons population.
