Strengthening SRHR in Mozambique

Despite relaxing criminal restrictions on abortion in late 2014, Mozambique’s policies limit the ability of providers to offer safe, legal abortion services to meet needs.

Rates of unsafe abortion are high in Mozambique and are a significant cause of death and injury amongst pregnant women.

Rede de Defesa dos Direitos Sexuais e Reprodutivos (DSR) is network of Mozambican health, gender justice and legal NGOs working to strengthen SRHR across the country.

A Network Grant, managed by the Association of Women in Legal Careers of Mozambique, will help the network to advocate for an enabling policy framework.

The grant will also support the expansion of the network to more remote parts of the country, educate the public about the improving abortion rights situation and work with provider to increase access.
