Training for media campaigns to end FGM/C
The town criers realise the possibility of a life without FGM/C and in turn have become advocates for social change

Opportunity grantee, Circuit Pointe, trained 30 town criers from 32 villages in Owalla Avuvu, Umnakannu Owerre and Egbelu communities on how to use modern media and communications technologies to engage in advocacy campaigns to end female genital mutilation/cutting (FGM/C).

Through the training, the town criers now realise the possibility of a life without FGM/C and in turn have become advocates for social change. There is evidence that the communities have shifted from FGM/C to other types of non-harmful rituals as alternative rites of passage for girls.
